When a foreigner is purchasing property in Malta, a number of conditions may vary depending on whether the purchaser is an EU or non-EU Citizen as well as whether the property to be purchased is one’s primary residence or a secondary residence, the location and value of the property and the title by which one intends to acquire the property.

In this case one should seek Legal advice to be in a position to understand whether a permit under Chapter 246 of the Laws of Malta is required or not.
